Owen's One!

On July 1st this little guy turned one and as always, it's amazing how quickly they grow. It seems like it wasn't too long ago when we were at the hospital with him. He is definitely a go with the flow kind of kid and is just happy all of the time. We love him so much and are so thankful that God gave him to us!

Owen at one you:
  • Weigh 20.5 lbs and are 29 inches long
  • You stayed in a hotel for the first time and did great (the 2nd night)
  • Transitioned from formula to whole milk
  • Cruising around furniture
  • Waving bye
  • Saying mama, daddy, more, uh oh
  • Love to read books

Owen at 10 & 11 months

Whirlwind is the only way to describe the last few months of Owen's first year. I was able to get all of his pictures done in the correct time but am just now sitting down to put them on the blog. And honestly my biggest motivation is that I'm pretty sure I'll have a free Shutterfly book soon and I use these posts to make one year books. (Just keeping it real over here) Here are pictures of Owen at 10 & 11 months and what he was up to at that time!

A 10 month picture was difficult with a very active little boy!

Owen also attended his first wedding this month, Uncle Brandon & Aunt Mariah's. Matt, the girls and I were all in the wedding party.

Owen at 10 months you:
  • Weaned yourself
  • Went to your first wedding, Uncle Brandon & Aunt Mariah
  • Were crawling on all fours
  • Pulling up on furniture
  • Laughing at your sisters
  • Wrestling
  • Eating 3 meals per day
  • Sleeping 11 hours at night & napping for 2-3 hours during the day

We just love these train jammies

Owen at 11 months you:
  • Loved playing with your piggy bank
  • Were crawling everywhere (and were pretty quick)
  • Transitioned to all solids and wouldn't eat baby food anymore
  • Ate breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks
  • Still a really good sleeper
  • Really liked the pool and splash park

Owen at 9 months

Owen is continuing to grow like a weed and we are a busy family of 5. This past month we enjoyed a week at home for spring break and Owen's first Easter. Time is just flying by and we're trying to soak up every minute of it!

Owen at 9 months you:

  • Weigh 17 lbs, 2 oz
  • Had a great check up at the doctor and once again did well with your shots (you are always such a happy baby)
  • Are transitioning from laying to sitting to all fours but then you get down and start army crawling
  • Are babbling and are saying "dadada" sometimes consistently when daddy's in the room but mostly it's just a new sound
  • You are still nursing every 3-4 hours when we're home and getting a bottle at daycare. We've had to supplement with formula some at home because sometimes after you nurse you're still hungry and that's ok!
  • Started eating puffs and LOVE them
  • Started giving sloppy, wet, open mouth kisses and it's the sweetest thing!
  • Also, you're so active and we are busy, so I took a quick 9 month picture on my phone but it still counts!

Easter Morning

Cousins anxiously awaiting an Easter egg hunt upstairs (it was raining & muddy outside)

Much calmer picture, post egg hunt

Owen at 8 Months

This little guy continues to grow, learn and explore. He is everywhere and is really quick! He already has a mischievous little grin, which for now is cute. This month we had to take pictures in our KU gear in honor of March Madness. I personally think he's one of the cutest Jayhawks that I know!

Owen at 8 months, you:
  • Are sleeping 8 hours at night. Mommy feeds you around 9 before I go to bed and you make it until 5.
  • Eat three meals a day of baby food plus your bottles and are finally chunking up
  • Saying "dada"
  • Waving "bye bye"
  • Transitioning from laying down to sitting and into all fours
  • Had your first ear infection but once you were on medicine you were back to your happy self

Owen at 7 Months

Owen continues to be the happiest baby and now he's a mobile baby! This little guy is army crawling everywhere. He's also an easy going baby except for when we put the baby gate up and he can't get to his sisters anymore!

Owen at 7 months you:
  • Weigh 15 pounds and are 26" long
  • You are army crawling
  • Loving solid food (especially sweet potatoes, peaches and pears)
  • Dislike peas, they make you gag
  • Babbling all the time

Owen at 6 months

Half a year?!? Wow, it goes by so quickly! This little guy is so much fun right now. He loves to watch his sisters play and is counting the days until he can run around with them. This month Owen celebrated his first Christmas and was definitely more interested in eating the paper than playing with the toys. He also survived a huge family gathering with all of Matt's extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins, cousins' children, grandmother, etc). It was so much fun to see everyone and to watch all of the 18 great grandchildren play together. We also enjoyed 2 weeks of no work and no school for Christmas break. It was nice to have relaxed mornings around the house and by the end of the break all three kids were consistently sleeping until 7, which is a nice change from the normal 6 am. Here are some fun things that Owen's doing at 6 months!

Owen, you:
  • weigh 14 pounds, 8 ounces and are 26 inches long
  • have a contagious belly laugh that is so cute
  • go through spurts of sleeping from 7 pm- 4am (yay!) but then some nights you're up every 2-3 hours
  • are starting to army crawl, you started by going around in circles but now you're going forward
  • you are a determined little guy and get upset when you can't get a toy that you've been eyeing
  • have tried solid foods a few times but really haven't gotten the hang of it so we'll keep trying
  • are wearing 6-9 month clothes
  • eat every 2-3 hours during the day
  • have started wanting a pacifier again (you're a little bit finicky about your sleep preferences)
Owen,
Mommy & daddy are so glad that God added you to our family. You are so happy and laid back. We love that we can take you pretty much anywhere and you just go with the flow. We love watching you grow and learn!

Owen at 5 months

Owen is five months old! He is the sweetest baby, except for when he's hungry or tired. He's also lost a lot of hair in the last few months but I think that it's starting to get a little thicker on the top!

Here are a few things he's doing at 5 months:
• Probably weighs around 13 pounds
• Likes to play with toys
• Sleeping about 5 hours at night
• Eats every 2-3 hours during day
• Gets mad when you take a toy away
• Sits when supported
• Rolling everywhere (sometimes gets stuck)
• Loves his sisters
• Sleeps best when swaddled and on his tummy
