Owen at 3 and 4 months!

I have to admit that life with 3 kids and both parents working full time is a little hectic but we're getting the hang of it! Owen started daycare in September and they just love him.

Owen at 3 months:
• Smiling
• Cooing
• Rolling from tummy to back
• Sleeps 5 hours at night
• Wearing 0-3 month clothes
• Eats every 2 hours

 Owen at 4 months:
• 12 lb 13 oz, 24 inches
• Almost rolling from back to tummy
• Very talkative & engaging
• Sleeps 3-4 hours at night
• Sometimes naps for 1.5 hours during the day

Sweet sisters dancing in the kitchen!

Owen,
You continue to be a happy, smiley baby. We did figure out in the last few months that dairy does not agree with your stomach. Now that mommy has changed her diet you are definitely more content. You are constantly cooing and "talking". We love you, Owen Matthew!!!

Nora turns 2 and Owen's 2 months!

The end of August into the beginning of September was a busy time for us! We moved into our new house (yay!) and celebrated Nora's 2nd birthday. And to top it off Owen was two months on September 1st. Since we were a little busy I didn't get individual 2 month pictures of him but he's included in the birthday pictures!

I really have a hard time believing that our sweet, middle child is 2 years old! She is full of spunk, stubbornness and sweetness (true characteristics of any middle child, right?) She marches to the beat of her own drum but at the same time aspires to be just like her big sister. She's a second mommy to Owen & makes sure he's never short on toys, blankets or pacifiers. We love this girl to pieces!

We had her party at the house & invited all of our family. We set a water slide up in the back for the kiddos and they had a blast!

She wasn't too sure about all the fuss for her birthday!

Fun on the water slide! This child has no fear!

This girl loves cupcakes!

We are so thankful that all of our families came to help us celebrate Nora's birthday!

Four generations

And on another note at 2 months Owen weighs 9 lb 13 oz. He is a cuddly boy who loves to sleep with his momma. He smiles a ton! He is a little fussy at times & likely has reflux like his sisters so we'll be starting medicine for that. He naps for about 45 minutes at a time during the day and sleeps for about 3 hours at night. We are loving having a little boy!

Owen at 1 month

On August 1st Owen was one month old. He didn't have a doctor's appointment but at 2 weeks he was back up to birth weight so I'm assuming he weighed more than 6 lb, 10 oz at a month. We are loving having a cuddly baby in the house. After Owen was born Matt and I were able to get some good bonding time with Owen while the girls went to Conway with my mom. Matt's mom brought them home Tuesday the 7th and then she stayed for a week and a half while we adjusted. We are so thankful that our moms were available to help out!

The girls love having a brother and are both very helpful. Nora is especially concerned that Owen always has his pack, a blanket and toys. I feel like we're adjusting well to the new normal with three kids!

Owen at one month you are:
• Eating every 2 hours during the day and every 2-3 hours at night
• Still sleeping most of the time, your longest awake time is about 30-40 minutes
•Sleeping in the pack n play in mommy & daddy's room
• A very smiley baby, you grin all the time

 All Smiles!

Those sisters are never far away!

Owen,
We love you so much and are very glad to finally have a little boy. We can't wait to watch you grow and to see your personality!
Love,
Mommy & Daddy

Owen Matthew DeMott

On July 1st at 8:45 p.m. we welcomed Owen Matthew into our family! That afternoon I had a doctor's appointment and had made minimal progress and was barely at 3 cm, 80% effaced. Dr. Fry was leaving for vacation on the 4th and would be gone for a week. She had delivered both Ellis & Nora so I had been looking forward to her delivering Owen so I asked her if she could strip my membranes to see if we could hurry the process along.  She did but said that she didn't think it would be very effective. After my appointment I took the girls swimming with some friends and felt great. We got home around 5 and I made a quick dinner before Matt had to leave to help a friend move. Before he left at 5:35 p.m. he asked if I felt okay and if I was sure he could leave. I assured him that I felt completely normal and that nothing was going to happen. About ten minutes later, as I was cleaning up dinner, I felt my first contraction but thought it was normal cramping from my appointment and that I might be dehydrated from not drinking enough water and going swimming. The girls needed a bath so I put them in the tub. Within a few minutes the contractions felt pretty consistent so I started timing them and they were about 30 seconds long and 3 minutes apart. I finished the girls' bath quickly and began drying their hair. At that point contractions were 2 minutes apart and 1 minute long. I told the girls we were going to go to the hospital. I called Matt and told him I was in labor and that I'd meet him at the hospital. Thankfully Matt was with Andy so they both came to the hospital & Andy took the girls home with him. They ended up having a fun sleepover with their cousins & didn't even miss us!

I checked into labor and delivery around 7 and was 5 cm. I was in quite a bit of pain so asked for IV drugs pretty quickly. I was able to get one dose of medicine before I made it to 8 cm. By 8:15 contractions were coming quickly and Dr. Fry was on her way (she wasn't on call but left dinner with her husband to come deliver Owen, high heels and everything!) When she arrived she broke my water, I pushed three times and Owen was born.

He weighed 6 lb 10 oz and was 21 inches. He had a head full of brownish/blondish hair and was the prettiest baby! We are so in love!

Baby #3 is a...

On November 10th we found out that we're expecting baby #3! With the girls I had taken the pregnancy test and then told Matt that I was pregnant. This time I did it a little differently. When we woke up I told Matt that I thought I needed to take a test. He was a little surprised but said "Well, go take it!" I went to the guest bathroom, leaving all lights off between our room and there. I took the test in the dark, not wanting to see the results before Matt. Then I took it back to our room and made him look at it first. He said, "Are you sure you didn't look at this? It's positive." We were both surprised but so excited. We've always wanted three children but didn't expect to get pregnant again so easily. Baby #3 will be here in July and we actually found out on Wednesday, February 11th, that it's a.... BOY!!!!

Having a boy already feels like a whole new world. I went shopping for the first time in the baby boy section (for my own children at least) and found a few cute things in blue. Another first has been looking at bedding and room decor for boys. I'm also rethinking how we'll decorate the playroom in the new house, it can't just be dress up and tea parties anymore! I know that these are only the beginning of many "firsts" with a boy. We can't wait to meet Owen Matthew!

Proof that he's a BOY!

Christmas 2014

So now that Valentine's Day is over it's only appropriate that I post pictures from Christmas, right?!? We had so much fun with the girls this Christmas. They were both so excited about decorating the tree, singing Christmas songs, reading Bible verses from an Advent paper chain every day in December, wrapping presents, opening presents and spending time with family. It is so much fun to see the awe and wonder in your children's eyes at Christmas. This year we had several Christmas celebrations. Ellis was in her first Christmas program at school and it went pretty much as expected. She stood on stage, didn't sing a note (despite the fact that she's still singing all the songs at home in February), and once she spotted us she proceeded to make silly faces and stick her tongue out the entire time! Oh well, she has several years of school programs in her future, so for the first one we'll count it as a success!

The weekend before Christmas my parents stopped through on their way to Iowa. They got the girls a red rider wagon and it was definitely a hit! We spent Christmas Eve & Christmas day at home, just the four of us. Then the weekend after Christmas we went to Kansas City to spend time with Matt's family. We enjoyed wonderful food (thanks to Adrienned & Mike for being such great hosts!) and lots of family time. On Friday night we had Christmas dinner with the Goerings, Rob & Kaye, Great Grandma Boore and Steve. On Saturday we did a little swimming at the hotel pool and that afternoon the adult girls headed to IKEA while the guys watched the kiddos. IKEA was massive and a great experience! That evening we bundled up and headed down to the Plaza to see the lights. Sunday we went to church, listened to Mike preach and all ate lunch together before heading home. Overall we had a great Christmas. I only wish that I would've taken a few more family pictures (us four, girls with grandparents, whole family shots, etc) but I've decided with two this little it's hard to man the camera when schedules are off, naps have been missed and presents are involved! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas too!
